Origins: Real-Time Interactive Dance Performance
ORIGINS was a live dance performance that featured real-time tracking, interactivity, projection mapping and generative content.
The 6-minute performance was staged for the opening of L’Effet Quebec’s ‘This Is Quebec’ showcase in Tokyo, in collaboration with Montréal-based HUB Studio and FLOAT4, and Tokyo Style.
The goal was to combine contemporary dance, choreographed and performed by Kei Asanuma, and digital content. A discourse between dancer and content emerged from the performance, as the digital content responded to the dancer’s choreography. The music was composed and recorded by Canadian cellist Cris Derksen.
HUB Studio led the management, staging and lighting design for the piece. FLOAT4 developed the multimedia content and its technological infrastructure, including a detection system and a RealMotion server to generate new content in real-time.
